  • Polished boulders like the ones seen here are a common sight on Acadia's beaches. They are tumbled around by the surf, grinding them perfectly smooth to the touch. These particular boulders, however, are located at over 200' above sea level inside a shallow cave, an ancient sea cave that during the last ice age sat sea level and took the brunt of the ocean's force..
